Vivago technology is a daily tool at Kotokampus

Vivago solution was implemented at Kotokampus 3 years ago. Before that systems by five different technology providers were tested. After testing Vivago was selected by Kotokampus personnel because of the real-time wellbeing data the system provides. Implementation of the system was planned and carried out in cooperation with Vivago team.

Vivago base stations secure seamless performance of the system at Kotokampus premises. Each customer is wearing a Vivago Care watch and has a base station in the apartment. Personnel has a mobile app on their smartphones that allows them to receive alarms and monitor customers’ wellbeing in real-time.

At Kotokampus home care and 24-hour care, Vivago technology is used in a variety of ways. Care personnel interpret customers’ wellbeing data and monitor changes in sleep patterns to support customer-oriented and timely night care. Technology supports in monitoring the effectiveness of medication and controlling pain. Automatic alarms and notifications on changes in customers’ wellbeing and health status enhance safety. Customers’ can also make a manual alarm if needed and at the same time a voice connection to the customer can be opened via the base station. Alarms are routed to the personnel of Kotokampus, allowing fast help for the customer.

Care personnel’s experience

At Kotokampus, one of the biggest benefits of technology for the care personnel is that the wellbeing data allows them to monitor customers' sleep-wake rhythm in real time. This has also helped to prevent night-time falls at Kotokampus.

Customer specific data can be used, for example, to predict urinary tract infections and to assess the effectiveness of customers' pain medication. Wellbeing information can also be further used by the doctor in planning care of the customer.

Technology provides tools to solve resourcing challenges and improve the quality of service

Technology has also helped to address the challenges of resourcing care personnel, and resources are being targeted to meet the needs of the customer. At Kotokampus, nurses on the morning shift start their shifts according to the customers' wake-up rhythm. Shift times are staggered in the morning to meet customer’s needs. Data and reports can also be used to evaluate the implementation of customer visits.

Real-time wellbeing data can be used to anticipate changes in customer’s health status. Care personnel can see when customers are waking up, so they can make a visit at the right time without disturbing customers sleep.

At Kotokampus, the future goal is to further develop the skills of care personnel in analysing and interpreting customers’ wellbeing data. One nurse has been assigned the task of identifying and developing new care approaches based on the information provided by Vivago technology. At Kotokampus, it is important to provide timely, quality service that can be tailored to customers needs.
